Provider-model comparison
SBA Acquisition Financing Providers: Which Model Fits the Buyer?
The best provider depends on the buyer's stage. A direct lender fits a defined transaction inside that bank's credit box. A loan broker or marketplace helps place a defined request. A financeability and lender-fit platform is most useful earlier, when the buyer, target, structure, and lender fit still need to be tested together.
Provider models
Provider models
| Model | Best suited for | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Direct SBA lender | A defined acquisition that fits one lender's appetite | One credit box and one underwriting process |
| SBA loan broker | Shopping a defined financing request across lenders | Often begins after a target and structure already exist |
| Lending marketplace | Comparing multiple financing options or generating lender leads | May prioritize lead distribution over transaction readiness |
| Financeability and lender-fit platform | Testing the buyer, deal, structure, and likely lender fit before underwriting | Preliminary only; cannot approve the loan |
| Acquisition operating system | Managing sourcing, diligence, workflow, and closing tasks | May not provide lender-grade financeability analysis |
| CDC/504 specialist | Eligible owner-occupied real estate and long-lived fixed assets | 504 cannot fund all acquisition uses |
